Melbourne Aquarium
I had a great time at the aquarium last week. Penguins, Nemo fish, huge octopus, turtles, sharks, exotic fish, pregnant seahorses, and the awesome THORN FAMILY made for a great visit.

Melbourne Zoo
The zoo was AWESOME!! Love it!! It was cold but the sun was out and it was not raining today so all the animals were out and active. The tigers recently had a litter of cubs (about 5) and they were out playing and an elephant had a baby about 6 months ago and she was out and walking around with her mom, too! Yesterday was my dad's birthday so.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPS! Follow the link to my facebook page for extra pics.

Big day in the city
Training this morning at 5am was the coldest it has been yet.... 3 degrees Celsius (35 degrees Fahrenheit)!!! I honestly don't know how the kids do it! It is an outdoor pool and the pool is heated but eventually they gotta get out and walk from the pool to the shower which is only about 100 yards away but that is 99 yards too far for me!! But they are dedicated so the deal. After training we had a coaches meeting (something we do every Tuesday). We go over each swimmer and evaluate their progress and strengths and weaknesses. Everyone communicates really well and that is refreshing given previous experiences :) Perri and I headed into the city on the train after the meeting. Melbourne has heaps (as they would say over here) of public transportation. It is really expensive to park your car in the city for the day so we take the train, tram (cable car), or bus. The train is the fastest way (only about 25 minutes) and the tram and bus are slower because they stop at traffic lights like the cars do. It is about $6 for a daily pass or $2 for a few hours. We went up the tallest building in the city and looked out over ALL OF MELBOURNE. It was awesome. We went up 88 floors. Tomorrow is ZOO DAY so Lord knows im SUPER EXCITED ABOUT TOMORROW. Hope everyone is nice and warm in good ole US of A!

Something New
Hey Hey!!!
I'm going to attempt using a blog as a more efficient way to keep everyone updated on my experience in Australia. I have a limited amount of email addresses so hopefully everyone can distribute the blog site to those that are interested in what I have been up to. I will try and update daily at most and weekly at least. I have never done the blog gig before so if it looks lame for a while... don't judge me! So here goes nothing...

Leaving on a jet plane
So for those that don't know.... the night before I left for Australia, all my girlfriends (and Chauncy) got together in Slidell at Kim Kirkpatrick's new apartment for a slumber party! We had a great time. True to form, we stayed up all night drinking wine, gossiping, and watching Sex and the City! The next morning we all headed to the New Orleans airport for the LONGEST GOODBYE EVER!!! (Don't ever let Kim give you directions, expecially when someone has a plane to catch) :) I LOVE MY GIRLS and miss them tons. Thanks to Kim Kirkpatrick, Katie Baricev, Patrice Wilber, Ashley Grayson, Katie Lechner, Emma Girouard, and Christina Carrington for making my last night in the states for the next 6 months so AWESOME!!! Oh and to my Chauncy... MOMMY MISSES YOU THE MOSTEST!!!
